Can't something be done to lower oil prices & the huge profits industry oil giants like Exxon-Mobile make?

Does anyone know of an on-line petition against Exxon-Mobile which made an indecent $4 billion in profits in 2007. The petition could ask the multi-national corporation to voluntarily reinvest just 1/4 of those profits into lowering the cost of a barrel of oil to an amount somwhat less than $110.00 a barrel. This would certainly help to alleviate the financial pain middle- and lower- class purchasers feel as the fill up their gas tanks, and struggle to pay their home heating bills.

I don't claim to much about economics, but even the banks nickel and dime us to death by raising costs to use our money as they profit while there are many who struggle just to keep their heads above the financial surface. I believe in capitalism to spur on growth, research and employment, but something needs to be done before our economy falls apart with $4.50/ gallon (or higher) gas prices by this summer.

I mention the oil industry mainly because their profits affect almost everything else we purchase. Can't something be done to lower oil prices %26amp; the huge profits industry oil giants like Exxon-Mobile make?
Why?

We NEED unaffordable prices for stuff so people can think about saving money and saving materials. Crude oil is running out. Oil companies need to make their last dollars because in the future they will probably be banished of (due to lack of crude nowadays). Anyway, making people waste money on transport will make them think about the environmental factors that crude oil and the automobile have caused. (CO NOx emissions which wreck the ozone layer and other stuff.) It will also make them think twice before buying something (anything materialistic) which will slow down the waste products produced from a wastage of material that's unecessary. Can't something be done to lower oil prices %26amp; the huge profits industry oil giants like Exxon-Mobile make?
since the value of the dollar is falling, the price we pay for oil is higher because it takes more dollars to pay for the same oil

the stock market and world events also influences the prices worldwide

it is really nothing to do with the oil companies, even though they obviously benefit from the spike in prices

read the news
How old ARE you... get the stars out of your eyes... ';THEY'; aren't going to do anything because the OIL COMPANIES are willing to do ANYTHING for profits... Including making their paid for MORON in the white house INVADE A FOREIGN COUNTRY OR TWO... for MORE OIL
