When the Exxon Valdez ran aground off the coast of Alaska, 2.5 X 10^5 barrels of crude oil were spilled.?

There are exactly 42 gallons to a barrel. If the oil was allowed to flow %26amp; fill a two-car garage with dimensions 8 x 25 x 25 feet, how many of these garages would be filled by the oil spilled from the tanker?

So multiply (2.5 x 10^5)x 42 to get the number of gallons total. Than figure out the sq footage in the garage and than divide? Not sure. When the Exxon Valdez ran aground off the coast of Alaska, 2.5 X 10^5 barrels of crude oil were spilled.?
A gallon is a measure of volume. There are 8 gallons in a cubic foot.

Convert barrels to gallons, gallons to cubic feet. Then divide the cubic feet by the size of a garage (5000 cubic feet).

You'll get garages. When the Exxon Valdez ran aground off the coast of Alaska, 2.5 X 10^5 barrels of crude oil were spilled.?
John T is mostly right, however the square footage will be a little less. There are 8 lbs of water to a gallon.

There are 6 lbs of gasoline to a gallon.

Don't know about oil, but it is somewhere in between.
